What exactly is emo/ scene ?? Referring to clothes and hair?

I'm hearing this EMO// Scene term everywhere and I saw a commercial for a Tickle me Emo doll that was hilarious so I kinda got the point but what is emo style in reference to dress and hair?? I'm being serious is it really that people focus their entire wardrobe and hairstylke to make it obvious to others that they are sad and angry?? Please help I'm confused

Emo and scene are two different things, despite popular belief. Anyway, there are about 4 generations of Emo. The first looked a lot like punk. The second looked like nerds (sweatervests). The third wore ripped up jeans, nostalgic tee's, and black rimmed glasses. They had jet black, greasy, messy, side-parted hair with a fringe. The fourth and current version wears a lot of black and resembles a mall/mopey goth. They have stolen the scene style hair which has the fringe, but multiple colors and may be a mullet. They aren't sad/angry, but over analytical. Those that are angry and flaunt depression and self-harm are probably posers. Emo posers are usually kids who would normally be outcast. Or they just like following trends (just not very well).

basically wear black, and dress sorta grunge. thast basically what emo means.yes i've seen the tickle me emo dolls too haha. but basically it's kind of a stereotype to ppl who dress like that, that there self harming and angry/sad

like they tend to have LONG straight side bangs covering one eye and they short hair in the back that is offten spiked lol

there clothes are unique

black and then a really random bright neon color

or just random things u dont normally wut see worn

and then most emos were black eyeliner....
