Do scene/emo kids cut their own hair or do they get it done?

I want a scene cut, but im scared of ruining my hair if i do it myself, and if i go to get it cut I don't want my hairdresser to be like "Why the heck would you want THIS kind of hair?!" I don't care what she thinks it's just, how do the other emo/scene kids get it so perfect? Just a natural curiosity.

you can do it your self or have it done by a hairdresser.

most of my friends cut their own hair and they are i guess what you can label as 'scene' and 'emo'. they do a good job at it too.

im guessing most of them do it thier self. it may not be as hard as you think. being emo/scene is not about being perfect. so my suggestion is just trying to do it yourself and if its not quite how you want it then go to the hairdresser and ask fora trim. they will NOT comment on it because they are getting paid to do that and they want a good tip. if they say anything they know you will take your money and leave. =] hop this helps!!

my friend cuts her own hair...and it looks great. i can't cut my hair...cuz i'm too scared i'll mess it up. so i just went to the salon and asked for short layers (sorta choppy) and i tease the heck out of it. it looks big and fluffy like i like it.

if your scared like i was then you should go and ask for what i got done. the people at the salon will teach you how to tease and style it. basically, all you need is alotta hairspray.

i use the old school aqua net. :)

um they spend a ton of money to make it look like they did it theirself. theres like 20 emo/scene/ kids at my church %26amp; they are always talken about gettin their hair done again.

Emo kids cut thier own hair and have their friends get the back part if it becomes bulky. Some girls are amazing at cutting thier own hair and some arnt so good thats when the friends make up for thier lack of skillz..

Best of luck

Have your mom do it.

Or buy a wig and practice on that.

Don't worry about the hairdresser. I'm sure he/she have seen those haircuts before, and if they wanna get paid, theyd better shut their mouths and do what theyre told.

good luck!

I get my mine done but i do go at it myself every once in awhile.

If your not confident about cutting your hair you'll screw it up.

so don't bother cutting it your self when you have know clue how to do it,

Though most hairstylist have know clue what their doing with show hair or "scene hair'' mine does and i trust her. we go pretty crazy with my hair. just make sure they know what their doing.

Oh and by the way the whole scene thing is going to die soon i can already tell.

  1. I cut my own just because my hairstylist doesn't really understand how to do it. It's just easier that way and I get what I want when I do it myself. For "scene" hair, make sure your top layer is short enough to tease, (the thicker the hair, the better. I have thin hair so hairspray compensates for it) and the bangs just need to be razored or cut at a slant. I layer the top part of my bangs shorter than the bottom part so it gives them more volume.

If you're scared to ruin your hair, just go a few snips at a time until you start seeing the difference you're looking for. Remember: scene hair is NOT perfect. It's almost SO imperfect that it looks perfect, so don't make it harder than it should be.

    Good luck!
